Wyoming deaf and hard of hearing team prepares for national quiz bowl

The state team from Wyoming recently competed in Academic Bowl for Deaf and Hard of Hearing High School Students at Gallaudet University in April. The competition involves teams answering a series of challenging trivia questions. The Wyoming team has competed at the national level four years and a row.

Joan Otterholt, who works with the state Department of Education, helps coach them.

“It gives them that confidence that they can get out in the world and do things,” Otterholt said. “And more than anything, it gives them the confidence that they can be college students, too, and be worthy college students.”
