Deafblind actor receives apology after captioning device user was accused of recording theatre show

Captioning devices can be crucial to the enjoyment of Deaf viewers, especially at live performances. As such, when one Deaf fan was called out during a Broadway musical, she was quite upset. This may be just a symptom of an underlying issue regarding Broadway plays and Deaf inclusivity. While it was a misunderstanding, such callouts can be very hurtful to the Deaf community. The theater has addressed their apologies, and is working to ensure this sort of incident doesn’t happen again.
