Colorado case shows police aren’t trained to interact with the deaf community

A Deaf Colorado man went to jail in 2019 due to resisting police orders that he could not hear. This is despite the Americans with Disabilities Act clearly stating that police “provide effective communication”. However, many police are relaxed or even ignorant with these mandates. The man was forced to the ground two years ago despite him trying to communicate that he didn’t understand. He was in jail for four months. Mistic is now attempting to sue the officers for the incident.
