Another Danger of Secondhand Smoke—Hearing Loss
Everyone is aware of the detrimental effects smoking has on one’s health. However, new findings from NYU School of Medicine reveal that tobacco smoke can also cause hearing loss in adolescents. The nationwide study evaluated the hearing of teenagers who are exposed to secondhand smoke, and found that they performed worse for every sound frequency tested. Researchers came to the conclusion that teens exposed to the smoke have almost double the risk for hearing loss.
