Back-To-School Season & Deaf Night Out

It is the back-to-school season for many families! Many of you will return to normalcy, which consists of a regular schedule, and may consider attending deaf events monthly. Have you heard of Deaf Night Out? Deaf Night Out is an incredible way for deaf people across the cities, states, or even across the country to get together for a gathering after a long time not seeing or allowing them to meet other people outside of their own. It is commonly known that many deaf people do not see each other often, like hearing people see their own. Deaf events are most likely hosted once a month or even several times a year, depending on the location. Sometimes there are noteworthy events like Deaf Expos, which consists of various booths including services that may range from relay services, job positions, and art.

Understandably, you may not be able to attend every DNO because we have careers, may go to school, or have our own families to raise. It is important to remember that mental health comes first, and keeping some me-time to us is crucial. Isolation is a familiar place for many of us DHH people. It is important not to let our lives become mundane, and isolation can lead to many mental health issues, leading to the underlying fact that we must keep our community safe and thriving.
