US Supreme Court agrees to take up deaf Michigan man’s case against school district

For several years, deaf immigrant Miguel Perez has been trying to press a claim with the Sturgis Public School District in Michigan. He argues that he was never provided with a proper interpreter. This has caused him to fail to learn key elements from his early education, such as reading and writing. This has caused him to have extreme difficulty learning and communicating with others. However, lower courts have rejected his claim. The Supreme Court agreed to consider the case – however, a date has not yet been given.
