Youtube Intersections: Deaf Muslim Women

It sounds almost like a setup for a joke, but it’s completely serious: a performing group of Deaf Muslim women have created a rap video in British Sign Language. The video, titled Deaf Not Dumb, is sponsored by Deaffinity, a British organization that advocates for black and minority Deaf people. Though there is no sound, bright captions accompany the signed lyrics, which promote a greater acceptance for deafness and sign language.
