Tampa’s Eddie V’s deaf chef wins national award
Charleston Wallace, an “enthusiastic, fun-loving” deaf cook at Eddie V’s seafood restaurant in Tampa has won a national award for being “the top culinarian in the Eddie V’s company.” Although Wallace was born deaf, his twin brother, Charles, was born hearing and they communicate through sign language. Wallace doesn’t view his deafness as a disability though. With the award, came a trophy and $10,000. Wallace, used a portion of his prize money to purchase a new hearing aid.
