Student’s design earns top prize at School for the Deaf
Stephanie Talavera, a senior at Lexington School for the Deaf in New York City, won an iPad 2 and got to call the borough president as well as a deaf actor for her winning design of the school’s new videophone booth. Her design featured symbols of the city, her school, and of ASL. A spokesperson for the school said that having Talavera call both a hearing and deaf person represented the school’s goal to bridge gaps between deaf and hearing communities.
