Sign language ‘turned into text’ by Aberdeen scientists

Computing scientists have devised a sort of portable sign language translator (PSLT) that can, to some extent, convert sign into text. The ultimate goal is to enable sign language users to communicate more effectively with non-signers. They hope to develop it into a smartphone application and make it available by 2013.
