Pitt County law enforcement may be getting new resource to help with communication with deaf community

The Deaf community and their obstacles are becoming more and more well known in the modern world. As a result, police officers in Pitt County, North Carolina are just a few of the many officers becoming more well trained to deal with deaf individuals. A resource called the Yellow Shield is planned to be given to the officers. The small piece of paper helps quickly and efficiently communicate issues with deaf individuals. There would also be a code on the person’s license plate to let the officer know they are deaf.
