Orange teacher brings deaf and hearing people together

Chris Arenth is a preschool teacher in Florida for children who are deaf and hard of hearing. Many of these children’s parents do no know sign language and can therefore not communicate with their own children. In addition to her role as a teacher, Arenth has essentially taken up a parenting role when helping these kids learn how to communicate. It is crucial that children pick up basic language skills by the age of three, and many of the children coming into Arenth’s classroom begin with little to no language abilities.

Arenth was named Orange County’s Teacher of the Year in December and she hopes that all parents will learn how to sign so they can communicate with their little ones and help them grow.
