Olney Theater Reimagines “The Music Man” With a Deaf Harold Hill

The production of Meredith Willson’s 1957 musical features a cast of deaf, hard of hearing and hearing actors

James Caverly, Gallaudet Alumni, has been considering a production of “The Music Man” with Deaf/Hard of Hearing actors for quite some time. Caverly struggled to find appropriate actors for the project for a long time. However, he was determined to bring his vision to life. He really thought the musical could be improved by this sort of storytelling. In rehearsals, they ensure that the timing is in sync for both the deaf and hearing actors. The play runs through July 24th, and is surely a sight to behold.
