Deaf Quarterback Leading Ironton To State Finals

The Ironton Tigers football team has a very unique quarterback. Tayden Carpenter, the starting quarterback, was born deaf and has a cochlear implant. In recent months, Carpenter has had trouble interpreting what his coaches are saying, due to their face masks. However, this hasn’t stopped him from leading the team to the state finals.

Carpenter has been a natural leader since he first joined the team—and hasn’t let his condition damper his spirits.
