Four thousand miles and 10 states later, recent Weelock College of Education and Human Development graduate Conrad Baer and Albert Blake hope to raise $25,000 for the American Society for Deaf Children (ASDC). What makes Baer and Blake’s attempt especially perilous as they travel this country’s roads is that both men are deaf.

Baer, who comes from a third-generation Deaf family, and Blake met while undergraduates at Gallaudet University, the only hard-of-hearing- college in the world. In speaking about their recent collaboration, Baer says, “We chose ASDC as the organization to fundraise [for] because the organization’s values align with our vision. We believe in sign language rights and education for Deaf children, and ASDC practices this. It was an easy, natural fit for us.” To date the men have raised $22,000 through their efforts.
