California School for the Deaf, 61 Graduates, 61 stories

The California School for the Deaf congratulated their students last week who were more than overjoyed. The school bred students to be proud and embrace who they are. One graduate, Dominique Yeboah, an immigrant from Liberia, encompasses that philosophy. She believes that becoming deaf jumpstarted the luck in her life.

Liberia did not offer Dominique any hope for a successful future with her loss of hearing. However, because America has a proactive deaf community, Dominique was able to attend a school that met her needs, learn sign language, and map out goals that would ensure her dream to become a teacher would be a reality.
