NWS SKYWARD training for the deaf and hard of hearing

The National Weather Service has come up with an outreach program to serve the Deaf and Blind in Birmingham Alabama. With the storm season approaching, most rely on hearing the NOAA weather alert warnings to severe weather, so these classes aim to provide the Deaf and Blind with other tools to remain safe. The National Weather Service has partnered with the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind and the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services in order to make these lessons a reality, and they are giving away a limited number of alert radios with strobe alerts. This education is the best defense against inclement weather, and the program looks to prepare all citizens with the protection of knowledge.
