Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind taps into solar energy for cooking farm-to-school

Emily Rowe, who is in charge of the Greenhouse at the Virginia School for the Blind and Deaf incorporates farm life into her teaching every day. Ms. Rowe, believes that the greenhouse and experimenting with different crops is a great way for the students to have hands-on experience while at school. Emily Rowe has noticed that her students have been exceling and wanted to take the learning experiences to the next level. It was a historical day for the school as they tested their new solar oven that was granted to them. The students are now able to not only plant their crops but harvest them. The crops will now be brought into the school as a healthy food item for the students to enjoy.
