Do you become irritated with those loud commercials on TV? I get this complaint from patients at least on a weekly basis. You may be happy to hear that the government has passed the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation (CALM) Act which may end the practice of broadcasters increasing the volume of advertisements to get viewers’ attention. The act requires the FCC to develop regulations that will maintain audio volume for digital television. The bill may issue waivers to cable operators or TV broadcast stations for whom complying would entail a financial hardship. We’ll see what happens! Loud commercials may soon be a thing of the past!
