FCC Makes Sure Deaf-Blind Individuals Have '21st Century
Communications' Tech

Deaf-blind individuals generally face greater challenges due to their disability-related costs and the lack of touch-based communication. To address these needs, the FCC recently passed a new initiative, called the National Deaf-Blind Equipment Distribution Program (NDBEDP). In conjunction with the Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010, NDBEDP will attempt to provide necessary touch-based communications equipment to deaf-blind persons through local state agencies. The FCC aims to have NDBEDP permanently established in every state within two years.
