Deaf Vallejo woman receives apologies from blood center after turned away

Californian Wendy Chadd-Guido was turned away when she tried to donate blood at a local blood drive. Despite being a registered donor and a rare blood type, the employee at the blood drive would not take her blood because she is deaf. A director of the organization apologized to Chadd-Guido, and the employee has since been put under review. The National Association of the Deaf said this is not an isolated incident, and Chadd-Guido hopes her experience will educate others about discrimination against the deaf.
