Cinemas are letting deaf people down

For those with hearing loss, movie theaters tend to be hit-and-missómore often a missódue to the general inavailability of subtitles or closed captioning. Cinemas are notorious for not following through on their scheduled subtitled showings; and when they do, these showings are usually scheduled during off-peak times and days. Though many theaters fear that adding subtitles will drive away their hearing base, a UK columnist contends that by not providing full access to their movies, movie theaters are failing to capitalize on their potential deaf audience and doing their customers a disservice.
